5 Ways to Get Blog Traffic Without Spending a Dime on Marketing

No blog can be made profitable without traffic. Without traffic to your blog, you're just another lonely blog in cyberspace. With traffic, your blog can be a hotspot for popular ideas and can make you an expert in no time at all.

If you want to earn more money from your blog, then getting more traffic should be your number 1 priority. Most people who have a blog already have great ideas on how to optimize and structure their blog so that people can buy, but they have absolutely no idea on how to get people there in the first place.

This is an unbalanced approached to blog marketing, and with some initiative, any blog can be made profitable with the constant influx of new blog visitors. So in this article, I'm going to share with you some of my favorite methods of traffic generation, so that you too can use these techniques to drive lots of people to your blog. Here's traffic method number 1:

1) Consider PPC advertising

Even though a lot of blog's earn their revenue from Google AdSense and affiliate programs rather than the selling of a high priced product, you can gain a lot of subscribers and recurring visitors with low-cost pay per click advertising.

If your content is outstanding, then some of these subscribers can potentially become lifelong readers, and may regularly visit your blog on a weekly basis - thereby increasing your chances of improving your blog revenue in the form of Google AdSense and affiliate products.

While there is a cost when investing in popular PPC programs such as Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing, a lot of these initial costs can be offset by the number of long-term subscribers that you have. If you implement math in your business, you can make the numbers work to your advantage.

2) Consider exchanging links

Exchanging links with other relevant blogs are a great way of increasing the number of backlinks to your blog - which can help with your search engine rankings. Although one-way backlinks are more beneficial than two-way, a relevant backlink is still a good thing for your search engine rankings.

When out on your quest for link exchanges, don't be in a rush to swap links with any blog. Links from blogs and websites that don't share a similar theme of yours will be considered useless to the major search engines and will have no benefit to your seo efforts.

Building up quality link partners will take time. But once you find a large number of them, you can expect your blog traffic to surge.

3) Create buzz

This is also known as viral marketing, or spreading the word out about your blog. The thing that makes viral marketing "viral" is the fact that people spreads something around to others - and they do the same, and so on. You can create a viral marketing campaign leading traffic back to your blog with a simple free ebook or video.

Create an ebook or video that's related to your blog and include relevant links back to your blog. If your information is good, many people will be compelled to share it with others. The more people passing your information around - the more traffic that you can potentially receive.

4) Optimize your blog for the search engines with relevant keywords

Whatever your blog theme is, you want to make sure that your main keyword and variations of this keyword are scattered and positioned correctly throughout your blog. You want to do this so that you can rank high in the search engines for a particular keyword that you are targeting.

A great way to find relevant keywords related to your blog is by using Google's free keyword tool (http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal). You can enter your main keyword here and find many similar keywords that people are search for each month. You want to use this information to write about these topics and drive people back to your blog. By targeting the right keyword, you can get lots of free visitors to your blog by way of search engines.

5) Use Article Marketing

Article marketing can be a very powerful tool for your blog. What you want to do is write articles related to your blog's theme and submit them to the major article directories. Here are some of the top ones that I submit to:

- EzineArticles.com - ideamarketers.com - goarticles.com - articlesbase.com - articledashboard.com

This method will also attract newsletter and website publishers who write on a theme similar to yours. If they find and like your content, they will publish it to their website, along with your blog information. This is how you can get traffic to your blog by writing articles.

Use these great traffic methods to get visitors to your blog. You will find that they are more than worth it, and the ones that you find the most effective - you want to do that very often as it can bring you a lot of recurring traffic fast.
